LATERAL NECK NERVE TUMOR

A 32-year-old woman consulted because of a mass at the side of her neck, which she first noted 10 years ago. Initially it was the size of a marble, until it grew to become the size of a small tomato. She had no other symptoms. MRI showed a nerve sheath tumor.

The patient underwent surgery to remove the tumor. The surgeon was able to remove the entire tumor without damaging the nerve. The biopsy result was a schwannoma, a benign tumor.
